Nearly eight years after its original release in May 2018, Detroit: Become Human has achieved an impressive new milestone. During the recent holiday season, the game sold 933,000 copies on Steam alone, proving that interest in Quantic Dream’s narrative-driven title remains strong.
The announcement was shared via the official Quantic Dream LinkedIn page, where the studio confirmed that Detroit: Become Human has now surpassed 15 million units sold worldwide. With this achievement, the game has officially become Quantic Dream’s best-selling title to date.
The growth in sales over the past few years has been remarkable. Back in January 2023, the game had reached 8 million copies sold. By December 2023, that number had risen to 9 million, before hitting the 10 million mark in October 2024. As of February 2025, sales stood at 11 million, meaning the game has added an incredible 4 million copies in less than a year.
Considering the game received a mixed reception at launch, its continued commercial success is particularly noteworthy. With fans still waiting for Quantic Dream’s next major project, it’s fortunate for the studio that their seven-year-old title continues to attract millions of new players worldwide.
Detroit: Become Human’s lasting popularity highlights the enduring appeal of story-driven games and shows that strong narratives can keep players engaged long after release.
