Andreas Thorstensson, Founder, CEO, and Creative Director of PlayGOALS, has shared an important update on the future of the football game GOALS.
Posting on X, Thorstensson revealed that the game will be going offline for the next few months as the development team focuses on major core improvements and prepares for the upcoming Beta phase. This downtime is a planned step and is meant to help lay the foundation for the next stage of the gameâs development.
GOALS Beta Coming in March
According to the update, March will mark the launch of GOALSâ open Beta, bringing new features and a more complete gameplay experience. The teamâs long-term goal is to release the full 1.0 version of the game ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Insiders Will Still Have Access
While the game will be offline for most players, a limited group of GOALS Insiders will continue testing the game. PlayGOALS also plans to invite more Insiders, giving additional players the chance to provide hands-on feedback during this crucial development phase.
The developers emphasized that community feedback remains a key part of shaping GOALS. Their Discord server will stay active, encouraging discussions around gameplay feel, modes, progression systems, and what truly makes a great football game.
Live Service Plans and Future Content
GOALS is being built as a live service title, with ongoing improvements planned even after launch. The team has confirmed future additions such as:
- New game modes, including 2v2
- Continuous gameplay refinements
- Fresh content updates over time
The developers thanked everyone who has already played, tested, and shared feedback, stating that the community is playing a major role in shaping the final version of GOALS.
With the Beta approaching and a World Cup-aligned launch target, GOALS is entering a crucial phase of development.
