Highguard Is Out Now on Consoles and PC
Highguard has officially launched on PS5, Xbox, and PC, and it’s already standing out as a fresh and ambitious entry in the multiplayer space. The game blends PvP combat, raiding mechanics, and objective-based gameplay into a unique 3v3 experience.
Best of all, it’s completely free to play.
What Is Highguard?
Highguard is a 3v3 PvP raid shooter where teams compete to break into the enemy base and destroy its generators before their own base is taken down.
Players take on the role of Wardens, each with unique abilities that suit different playstyles such as:
- Combat
- Stealth
- Base defense and repair
- Resource gathering and looting
Despite their unique skills, every Warden can use any weapon, allowing for flexible loadouts and team compositions.
Core Gameplay Loop
Each match revolves around attacking and defending fortified bases, with vast open areas separating both sides. These areas allow players to:
- Loot gear
- Harvest resources
- Upgrade weapons and tools mid-match
To breach an enemy base, teams must:
- Secure the Shieldbreaker
- Escort it to the enemy base
- Drop the barrier
- Destroy generators to reduce the base’s HP to zero
If a player carrying the Shieldbreaker dies, it is dropped — creating a Capture-the-Flag-style risk-reward mechanic. The enemy team can also teleport back to their base once their barrier is breached, ensuring tense defensive moments.
Strategic Depth and Match Variety
Highguard leans heavily into strategy:
- Players choose from four random base layouts at the start of each match
- Bases can be armored and reinforced before combat begins
- If enemies reach your base, you must repel them until the Siege Tower expires
- Matches can last up to four rounds, keeping the action intense without overstaying its welcome
Wardens can use a mix of traditional weapons, magic abilities, raid tools, and mounts, adding even more variety to combat encounters.
Live Service Model and Future Content
Highguard is designed as a live-service experience, with:
- New episodes releasing monthly
- Free additions including new maps, Wardens, weapons, and mounts
- The next episode arriving in just two weeks
- An entire first year of content already planned
All post-launch gameplay content will be available for free.
