How EA FC 26 Thunderstruck Upgrades Work

One of the biggest reasons the Thunderstruck promo is so popular is because the cards are connected to real-world football results. Player items can receive in-game upgrades depending on how their clubs perform in official league matches after the promo launch.

Each Thunderstruck card is eligible for the following upgrade paths based on club performance in the next five league matches:

Thunderstruck Upgrade Conditions

1. League Performance Bonus

If a player’s club gets 2 wins or draws in their next 5 league matches, the card receives:

• 1 additional base PlayStyle

2. Team Success Bonus

If a player’s club achieves 3 wins or draws in their next 5 league matches, the card receives:

• All Roles++ boosted across every position the player can play

3. Goal Scoring Bonus

If a player’s club scores 10 total goals in the next 5 league matches, the card receives one of the following:

• Plus 1 PlayStyle+ (maximum of one PlayStyle+) OR
• 1 additional base PlayStyle (if PlayStyle+ is already applied)

These live performance upgrades make Thunderstruck cards much more valuable over time, especially for players whose clubs are in strong form. Investing early in players from high-scoring and consistent teams increases your chances of getting fully upgraded cards later in the season.
